bubblicious.

it's the end of the school year & i'm excited (& a bit nervous) to have ALL the kids home ALL the time, but more on that later. right now we're talking about teacher thank yous. for gavin's teacher we filled an apothecary jar with gumballs & attached a card that read "thank you for 'chews-ing' to share your talents. gavin had a 'ball' this year!" for the office staff we did the same thing on a smaller scale using mason jars. (thanks for the brilliant idea julie!) then for all of each of gav's little classmates, we wrapped up big 'ole glittery bouncy balls with a note that said "hope you have a 'ball' this summer!" so what are you doing, or did you do, for your teachers this year?

I was a total slacker this year. Nothing creative or fancy. (In my defense, I didn't feel any kind of connection with my son's teacher this year and that played into my lack of creativity)

My son wanted to give cookies, so that's what we did. He made a handwritten note and we attached it to the cookie bag with pretty ribbon. He took one to his teacher, his last year's teacher (his favorite) and an aide who is always teasing with him about being a cookie monster. My daughter sent one to her 2nd grade teacher (her favorite) via my son. She was in 8th grade this year. It made the teacher cry that she would still think of her.

We only give to the teachers, so I just had 4 to do. This year we gave home made strawberry freezer jam and homemade bread. A bread machine makes this very easy to do!

I'm such a TOTAL slacker! I stopped at Starbuck's on the way to my daughter's field day and picked up gift cards! What can I say.. it was a VERY BUSY WEEK! We had done a surprise party for my MIL, a birthday party for my son, a field day (room mom) for my daughter and a jr. olympics for my son! aLL IN THE SAME WEEK! I was T.I.R.E.D.

I didn't have much forethought this year because of packing boxes and all, but, I can say that the Target dollar section came through for me in a BIG WAY! :) They had cute pink baskets and everything you need to pamper yourself. Bathbeads, manicure sets etc. all for a dollar! Thow them in the basket and POOF! Teachers gift. LOVE TARGET!

I love saying for the teachers! I did those last year in red and green and attached a tag that said, "Blowing Christmas Wishes Your Way!" But you could do it for anything... makes such a great and inexpensive gift! I am in NO way as crafty and creative as you but... I thought I'd share! :)

I'm curious as to where you got this idea from. Your blog asks people to "please please please" give you credit where credit is due. Maybe you thought of this on your own but Kristi from everythinginspink.blogspot.com and 2cleverblog.com has been posting this idea since 2006 and you happened to use the exact same wording as her.

Amy....a friend of Kristi's

Amy, you are totally right! & I will edit the post right away. the idea actually dates back to my aunt years ago, who gave us a big 'ole apothecary jar filled with gumballs & this exact saying. it was so cute, i fell in love immediately and have been using the idea ever since with a few tweaks on the wording when necessary. I've used it so many times over the years, i just didn't really even think to credit my aunt. i definitely didn't mean to make people think i totally came up with the idea, because i know tons of people have done similar things.

i truly apologize if you thought i was trying to swipe your friend's idea as my own. i guess, if you think about it, i was trying to swipe my aunt's idea! sorry julie, i will credit you immediately!

Thanks amy for pointing this out! Kristi is lucky to have such a great friend!

Kelly,

Thank you for the clarification. Again, anyone could have come up with it on their own...I've just always seen it linked back to Kristi in the blogging world.

Oh, and I'm going to try your yummy recipe you posted. I'm a big rice kristy treat fan so these look even better.

Thanks for all your creative ideas.
