I absolutely cannot sing, especially the high notes often found in the Children's Songbook. It was fun, though, and I figured if they didn't want to listen to me try to sing anymore, they can call someone else. I was sad when we moved away because I just loved those kids.
This website has a lot of great ideas: http://www.sugardoodle.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1063&Itemid=5
Also, find out if any of the kids play an instrument. Some of the songs have a descant (see "I Am a Child of God" as an example) written especially for voice or instrument.
Good luck and have fun with the kids!aaron and alleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05251903525864326600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4867427324036295912.post-83571263315228355992008-05-15T21:16:00.000-07:002008-05-15T21:16:00.000-07:00I've had this calling 5 different times, and it's ...I've had this calling 5 different times, and it's my very favorite. It is always nice to meet your fellow bloggers. As for your new calling, I can tell you kids love to play games during singing time. Poster games and matching the song games. At first I couldn't lead music, and instead, I just used my hand to show if the melody went up or down -- I would lay my hand out flat, and go up or down, depending on where the melody was going. It helped the kids learn the tunes to those songs they didn't know. That, and lots of different permutations of "come up and pick a flower and it has a name of a song we will sing on the back" -- that worked well for little kids.Amy Jorgensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11569578688630618526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4867427324036295912.post-17814481727096974092008-05-14T08:23:00.001-07:002008-05-14T08:23:00.001-07:00you will be great...because you're great at whatev...you will be great...because you're great at whatever you do....plus, you've got the right idea...as long as the kids relate to you, you have it made...i have always loved new callings for the things that i learn from them...just have fun with it...mama johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03338574002894042609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4867427324036295912.post-24577940760042222702008-05-14T08:23:00.000-07:002008-05-14T08:23:00.000-07:00thanks for stopping by and leaving word....now tha...thanks for stopping by and leaving word....now that i have come here to blogstalk i am wishing you would have come to BP and that we could have met. i love your blog and how you just say it how it is. i will be back to check out all your tips and fun blog.ashlihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15400819502006022473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4867427324036295912.post-30218633981682989632008-05-14T07:43:00.000-07:002008-05-14T07:43:00.000-07:00Music is what makes Primary so great!
