recently, while perusing miss jordan's lovely blog, i came across the idea of an activity based advent calendar. so, in following her lead, i came up with 24 activities for our little family to take part in, helping us spread the christmas cheer throughout the entire month...
- watch: how the grinch stole christmas
- drive around to see neighborhood lights
- go to disneyland
- watch: the nightmare before christmas
- make hot chocolate floats
- write letters to santa
- read a christmas book or two (the tale of the three trees is always a favorite!)
- ride the irvine rail road christmas train
- make cookies & treats for friends
- go christmas tree shopping
- make paper snowflakes
- watch: white christmas
- attend the newport harbor boat parade
- have a picnic dinner by the christmas tree
- make gingerbread houses
- make home-made bread for hot chocolate & toast
- go see the huntington harbor tour of lights & drive by tbn to see the light display
- go to disneyland
- ding dong ditch christmas treats
- watch santa's sleigh make their rounds
- have breakfast for dinner
- dip candy canes in chocolate
- watch: elf
- sing christmas songs & read the christmas story

we're doing an advent activity calendar, too! probably more fun for me that the kiddos...
that is such a good idea...a tradition that i will definitely have to steal from you!
I have also been introduced to the activity part of the advent calendar. I love it. You have a great list, some good ideas. I am super jealous that #3 is so easy to do for you!
Rob & I were just talking about starting the advent calendar tradition this year...now I need to find (or make) a cute calendar.
Sounds like you are gonna be busy! We are going to the boat parade on the 12th... maybe we'll have to hook up for the train ride!
I LOVE THIS! And 2 Disneyland trips? Well, that sounds like a great Christmas to me!
