beauty secrets revealed

I don't know about you, but I have an entire drawer full of makeup. Makeup has always had this magical allure for me. I am always so quick to purchase the newest thing. I'm always excited to get it home, because it looked so beautiful on me when "they" put it on. I paid special attention to exactly what "they" did, the order, where to apply what... So then I try to replicate it, and I can never get it right. So, it sits there in my makeup drawer with everything else I'm not using.

But, I do have some tried and true favorites. Things I never travel without. Makeup that is so easy and basic that even a beauty novice like me can get it right...

benetint & rush hour for rosy cheeks. bad gal lash, the greatest mascara of all time. I've tried everything from brand name to generic grocery store stuff, and this is the bomb! In their own words "it's like wearing a set of false eyelashes without the glue." Stila lip polish in sheen. And finally bobbie brown's, bronze shimmer brick compact. It's great on cheeks, eyes... just about anywhere. It's easy to use and fun to play with.

So what beauty secrets do you have hiding in your drawer?

Does Chapstick count as a beauty secret? I have a lot of natural lip pigment, and large lips, so something that just gives me a nice smooth sheen without being shiny is a lifesaver. And I love my Almay lengthening mascara in black/brown. I'll have to check out some of the stuff you've mentioned here though. I'm trying to introduce myself to my girlier side.

I am a Clinique kind of gal... everything I use is from Clinique. I also am the type that once I try a color, I tend to never stray! I need to get out of my rut it sounds like.

i also love bad gal lash mascara. also love voluminous from the drug store, and too faced has great mascara too. i think it's called faux fur. i'm getting more of that as soon as bad gal runs out!
i also swear by bare escentuals mineral foundation. i'm mostly a mascara girl, though. probably because my eyelashes are white. :)

I love all the suggestions, I'll have to check them out. But I confess, I totally forgot my biggest beauty secret. You'll laugh... but I buy my face from HSN. Yep! I got hooked on an infomercial product. It's the serious skin care line. I don't know why or how. But it works! I've always had "problem" skin, and this seems to do the trick for me. Previously, I had tried everything... drugs, proactive - you name it, I've probably tried it. But I love this stuff. It's got this beads in, so it kinda scrubs your face. It's just good stuff.

I am a total sucker for makeup of any kind. I start fantasizing about how I'll look with a new mascara (or whatever), and KNOW that it will totally change my life. I rush out to buy it. At home in the mirror the truth hits: I'm 57! Nothing's that good! Except the fantasy (and the advertising.)

i just love rosebud salve and kiehls anything. i also adore the gel bobbi brown eyeliner for a night out. it stays put but is a bit tricky to apply.
