menu monday mania: week 6

oh heavens. this week has been busy, exciting, even overwhelming at times - but more on that later. it's time to get down to business. the meal planning business that is. this week is going to be easy for me because i'm going on vacation! woot! woot! after tonight, someone other than me will be responsible for each & everyone of our meals. so while i don't have any exciting menu ideas to share - that doesn't mean i don't want to hear yours, because i do! i still have to come home & make dinner all next week, which i'm already not looking forward to.

* monday: pizza (i think i've found the sauce, will share later)
* tuesday: maybe tacos?
* wednesday:
enchiladas perhaps?
* thursday: cheesy quesadillas?
* friday: big fat burritos?

p.s. if you haven't sent me your recipes for the great soup exchange, better do it soon. time is almost up!

soup exchange

so it's official - if you haven't noticed, my absolute, all-time favorite winter meal is soup. i don't know about you but, just the thought of a big bowl of steamy soup makes me all warm inside. not to mention, soups are usually pretty quick and easy to prepare & a little can go a long way.

so after obsessing, thinking & yes, even dreaming about soup, i had an epiphany... an aha! moment you might say. i'm throwing a party & you all are invited. that's right, i'm throwing the first virtual soup exchange & i'd love you to join in the fun. (okay honestly, i really don't know if it's the first virtual soup exchange, but it makes me sound so innovative & creative, that we will just go with it.)

ready for the details? your participation is simple, totally easy & completely pain-free. all you have to do is leave a comment, email me (, or even tweet me (@according2kelly) your absolute, all-time favorite soup recipes. (& if you have any question about it, i totally consider chili a soup.) while we're at it, nothing goes better with soup, than homemade bread &/ or rolls - so send those recipes too. &, if you've already posted any (or all) of your recipes, simply send me the link (i'm excellent with the copy & paste functions on my computer). i guess we better set a "submission" deadline, so our soup exchange doesn't go on forever... so how about friday, february 12th? once i've received the plethora of recipes i'm expecting (come on folks, better not fail me now!), i will compile them all into a download-able cookbook of sorts for all to enjoy!

ready to get this party started? once again, here's the nitty gritty:
* contribute your favorite one, two, or as many soup & bread recipes as you'd like, by simply leave a comment on THIS post, emailing me at or tweeting me (@according2kelly).
* of course, i will contribute all recipes to whomever submits them, after all, they are your recipes. so please, let me know how you want me to refer to you. (for example... recipe submitted by kelly of
* please, please, please (with a cherry on top) send me all recipes & links by midnight, friday, february 12th, so that i can compile them and make the download-able cook book for all to enjoy!

woot! woot! i'm getting super-duper excited. an entire cookbook chock full of people's absolute favorite soup & bread recipes? sounds like dinner will be planned for months... hopefully my family won't start referring to me as the "soup nazi." now, run along , let's start exchanging soups.

menu monday mania: week 5

soup's on this week, literally. almost every single day, i'm making soup. it's quick, easy, & will be perfect for the cold winter nights. maybe, if i'm really ambitious i'll bake up some crusty, home-made bread. (any one have any favorite bread recipes they are just dying to share?)

* monday: sweet potato corn chowder
* tuesday: tortilla soup
* wednesday: home-made mac 'n cheese
* thursday: chili (anyone have a fabulous, must-try recipe to suggest?)
* friday: mexican chicken & rice soup

so here you go. my dinner plans. link up your plans & recipes, let's help each other out....
