i think i need to acknowledge that my family (me and the boys that is) have a slight addiction... to coke. (actually my order of preference is cherry coke, then dr. pepper & finally coke, but that's beside the point.) anyway, it appears that my boys have inherited this fine quality. gavin has been sipping on my drinks ever since he could suck out of straw. one of his first words was coke & he recognizes the symbol everywhere we go (which can often make life a bit difficult. he sees a coke sign & suddenly he has to have one.) i realized how serious the situation was on our trip this past summer... one evening a waiter asked if we would like anything to drink. gavin immediately raised his hand & said "coke." seriously?! how many 2 year olds do you know ordering their own coke? another time, all the restaurant had was pepsi. no big deal, or so i thought. gavin took one sip & then looked up at me and asked "coke?", and then refused to drink any more. how in the world did he know?
well i thought, or at least hoped, that this slight genetic flaw might have skipped owen... unfortunately, this isn't the case. any time i have a coke he cries & cries until i share. maybe it's time i wean them off the bubbly.

We have this same problem but my choice of poison is Dr. Pepper. Drew whines until I give him some too (15 mo.)!! Scary!!!
BTW I nominated you for an award- check it out. You're amazing!
I'm going to agree with Gavin, Coke is way better than Pepsi..
oh my god that is too funny!
I happen to drink PS Orange Bubbly Water... and so that is what my kids drink too, a lot! People can't believe they like it, but we go though cases of it :)
it's a bagley thing...it's come down the genes from grandma and grandpa...remember how grandma june would not drink anything but coke?
That's so funny. My 5 yr old is addicted to San Peligrino sparkling mineral water. We have to hide it from him. Too expensive for a preschooler to enjoy.
LOL! My boys like sweet tea!The K-Man says, not "normal" tea, I want sweet tea!
it is totally a genetic thing...we buy a secret coke stash when "oma" comes to visit. yesterday em wanted a diet coke with her happy meal...like mother like daughter, huh?
My name is Kelly and I am addicted to Coke...I love coke, I drink at minimum one every day, doesn't matter what time of day, cold or not I have to have my coke. My son is 9 months old and I hide the fact I am drinking coke from him because I don't want him to become an addict too...sounds like it might be genetics though! Two years ago I moved from the States to Australia and I have to say the Coke is better here...no corn syrup, just pure sugar. I didn't think that Coke could get better but it did! I think all this writing about Coke has made me a bit thirsty...-kb
Too funny. My kids also like to drink my sodas too! I think it makes them feel bigger or that they are getting away with something.
My neighbor has a nephew who calls her Aunt Juice.. guess the "juice"? Yep. coke.
Nah...let them have coke!
Too cute. My youngest quite enjoys stealing mine whenever he can. ;) Great post.
Gavin's got a gourmand's palate...he knows Coke is better than Pepsi! To me, Pepsi is too sweet. It's funny, though...when it comes to the diet versions, I prefer it the other way around--Pepsi over Coke.
Now, a question...do they have trouble sleeping at night, LOL?
