one step forward.

goal, [gohl], noun
1. the result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.
2.the terminal point in a race.
3. a pole, line, or other marker by which such a point is indicated.
4. an area, basket, cage, or other object or structure toward or into which players of various games attempt to throw, carry, kick, hit, or drive a ball, puck, etc., to score a point or points.
5. the act of throwing, carrying, kicking, driving, etc., a ball or puck into such an area or object.
6. the score made by this act.

it's easy to make a resolution, to say "in 2008 i will..." it's even easier to let those same resolutions slide. personally, i need to do more than just make a list. i've found that i accomplish more when i plan out the baby steps. afterall...

a goal without a plan is just a wish. (larry elder)

I love your list! I knew someone who did weekly notes to different people - either complimenting them on an admirable quality they had or a more simple thank you note. I would love to do that. I think I'll add that to my list.

And I am so happy to read you are doing a triathlon! I did my first one in 2006. I am like you and had loved running and biking but the swimming I had to learn. It is so do-able. Are you doing one in SLC area? Let me know if you have any questions. Not that I'm a total expert but I've done two and plan on my third this May.

Oh, never mind. You're in CA not Utah. There are a ton in the Portland area where I live. Hopefully you have several to choose from too.

Love, love, love your list. They all seem attainable. That's important for me- setting attainable goals. You are always so full of good ideas. I'm excited to see them all unfold! Go get 'em!

Ok- I see eye to eye with you on many of your goals!!

I guess I need to just sit down and write mine out too. However,I am just such a perfectionist that I am worried It would drive me crazy if I started really slipping off. Maybe I just need to give my self a breaK! Hmmm. Sounds like I good first goal!

Hi, I was a lurker but liked your list so much that I had to comment! Your list was terrific. I've been feeling very lethargic the last few days and needed something to get me going again. Now I've made my own goals for the year and am re-energized. Thanks so much! I really love your blog.
