they say it'll be 110 degrees, seriously!

don't get me wrong. it's not that i hate camping, or am totally opposed to it by any stretch of the imagination. in fact, sometimes i actually like it. however, this weekend i'd prefer to be lounging by a pool, instead i will be sleeping on the ground, hiking 10+ miles, eating from a metal pie tin, & mopping the sweat off my brow, all while pulling a handcart, dressed like a pioneer. yep! it'll probably be about 110 degrees, yet i'll be sporting my pantaloons, a long skirt & blouse, apron & bonnet. sounds fun huh? i bet your totally jealous. oh well! wish me luck, i'll be back monday-ish to report. (i might even be willing to post a picture or two, so you check me out in all my "garb".)

I am so sorry that does not sound fun, I totally opted out of going with our ward this year...I have been twice though and it's definetely more fun as an adult...

I think it sounds like a blast except for the 110 degrees. I can't wait to hear all about it.

i loved our trek growing up. but we also got to wear shorts, have as much water as we wanted and eat steak dinners with fat boys! as oppossed to my husbands stake, they had to catch and cook their own turkey, had water restrictions and wear pioneer clothes. i think that we both learned some good lessons though.

Have you ever seen the movie Troop Beverly Hills? ( I loved it when I was young) Anyway they camp out in a hotel room...That's my kind of camping! Good luck!

Have fun on the trek! It is always an interesting experience.

I thought the mamamonsters trek sounded familiar. She lives by us. Until a few years ago, we did the trek up right, until they decided to do it more realistic. Too bad for all the youngsters to come. We had it good in the "old days"

Kelly, that sounds awful. Please report back when it's over :)

Pioneer Trek was one of the best things I've ever done in my life. I dreaded it, whined, complained and tried to get out of it. Then I whimpered and murmured through the whole four days. But I learned so much about myself. I'd call it life-changing. Good luck! ❤

Ugh!! Good luck surviving that--I know you will. I always opt out the treks because, well, I'm more of a down comforter, you know, AC loving kind of gal.

Good luck!!

Good Luck on your Pioneer Trek! My hubby and I did this like 7 years ago! Extrememely hot and humid weather, but we survived. It's such a neat experience and glad you get to try it out too!

Treks are a once in a life time experience. At least thats what Im telling myself. I did it once and I hope I NEVER have to do it again. I cant even say that Im glad I did it once. Camping is just not for me. It'll be fun to see your pics.

I should add that we did the Montana thing, in July, and it snowed the first night, and the wind blew and then... the next day it rained, and rained and rained and flooded! I couldnt get out of there fast enough! It was JULY!!! Cant imagine the real thing-in the middle of winter!! Whew!!

Sounds fun if it wasn't going to be 110 degrees! Can't wait ot hear all about it.

Quick question for you. I sent an email just wondering if you have had time to read it or got it? If not here is what i was asking: Kelly i have a question or two to ask.
I want to host a swap.
Are there certain rules to go by?
Can anyone start one?
How do i get people to know about the swap?
Any advice?

Love the picture! I so love NOT camping, too! I have recently become more tolerant of the outdoors, since I got my DSLR camera and LOVE to take pictures, but I'm still a VERY long way from sleeping in a tent and eating out of metal tins! I am so NOT a princess, but I sure sound like one when people invite us camping!

good luck! It has been 110 + for the past 7 days here in AZ and I am dying! Then again I am almost 7 months pregnant- but that kind of heat is miserable for anyone! Can't wait to see you in full pioneer garb!

I wasn't happy with the way that the dress turned out, so I made some alterations-just thought you might want to see what it looks like now :)
