true-life confessions.

  • i never went to bed last night. i ended up working late into the night, by the time i was finished it was 4:30. knowing 2 hours of sleep would be worse for me than no sleep, i got dressed & went to the early morning spin class.
  • i have been a total slacker lately, when it comes to blog comments. so, please! if you've left me a comment lately, & i haven't responded yet, don't hate me, or think i'm ignoring you... i'm just being lazy.
  • i haven't cooked dinner for the two weeks.
  • i haven't gone to the grocery store in over three weeks.
  • sometime during the week i ran out of shampoo... i had already gone one day (or so) without washing my hair, so i needed to do something. the baby powder smelling puppy shampoo was the best thing i could come up with. you bet i used it, & my hair has never smelled better.
  • my mortgage went up $800 this month... that hurts.
  • i think i need a vacation.
  • i didn't make it to the gym yesterday. instead i ate an entire bag of circus peanuts.
  • i spaced the zip code on my swap package, so it came back to me. so i ended up sending out my package a day late. opps!
  • i think i've officially "let myself go". last week, i wore a hat nearly every day, & my mom asked me if i ever do anything with my hair other than the princess leia buns i've been sporting lately.
  • i'm still driving with my spare tire because i'm too lazy, & don't want to spend the money, to get it fixed.
  • up until yesterday, i had been to the eye doctor for about 2 years. unable to get new contacts, i've just been stealing jeffy's.
  • i hate the word moist & the taste, or lack of taste, of water.
  • i haven't relapsed yet. that's a good thing, i think...

nice! I feel like I should do some confessing to...Oh wait I'm not that brave!

It's so nice to know I'm not the only less than perfect person out there.

There is something nice about the occasional letting ones self go. I would drink a coke if I were you :)

Sounds to me like you're pregnant :)

So, you're human--we all are!! Heck, way to go on the no Coke thing! I can't even go a day.

You're a brave woman to go to spin class on no sleep! I need a vacation too. I vote we charter a yacht and tour the Italian coastline; Positano, Cinque Terre, to name a few....Plus, you're a world traveler and I'm learning Italian, it'll be perfect :)

I have sat on the couch for 5 days now - watching the Olympics - there is something very strange about watching other people excel at athletic activity while my rear end is beginning to hurt from not moving for days on end.

I have a list of words that must go and MOIST is totally on there....along with palpate, mucous, ointment, nugget, pulp, apparatus and MANY MANY MORE!

thanks for keeping it real with this post.

saw on your other blog the surf city nights at HB...this time next year we'll be moving to SoCal and won't be that far from there...I'm so excited to be by a beach again! YAY!

Your honesty is great! If I looked good in a hat, you'd better believe I'd be wearing one everyday too! :)

my friends have laughed at me for years for intensely disliking the word "moist". one roommate would call me and just say "moist" in a breathy voice...... to which I'd respond with a cheerful "Hello, Mindy!"

still. the word gives me shudders.

thanks for your honesty. I could relate to a lot of what you confessed to!

Well, not having been to the grocery store in 3 weeks would explain why you have not cooked dinner in 2 weeks. As I write this my hair is in princess leia buns. I too am driving around a car that has a spare on it- and it's been like that for at least a month now :0) Also, I am too cheap to buy a real tire. I don't know how you go without sleep and manage two boys, a household, and all your crafts! Last but not least- an additional $800!!! YIKES. I really don't want to move to Cali now :0( Hope you get a nap or something today!

you need to CHILL OUT and it sounds like you are trying to be superwoman- I get that idea from your last post at Tangled and True and from this one. It's ok to not be perfect and taking care of your family is the most important thing- stop trying to blog so much about how great your life is and just live it.

kathryn said...

well, i don't see anything wrong with focusing on the better parts of life. no one likes a downer. that said, kelly, you are obviously not trying to pass your life off as perfect, seeing as how you are comfortable admitting that you use dog shampoo in your hair. woof.

p.s. i also hate the word moist. and gyrate.

I'm loving these confessions. And I'm totally not going to write any confessions on my blog - I fear they would show everyone how nutty I truly am :)

i'm loving all the feedback... hopefully you can have a good laugh at my expense. and brooke, no, i am definitely not prego!

as for trying to be superwoman... i definitely try to be the best that i can, but i know i'm far from perfect. most days i like to think i have a pretty optimistic look on life. truthfully speaking, this wasn't even a bad day. i was just thinking about all that's happened pretty recently, and it cracked me up, so i thought you might find it funny too. most of all, i just like trying to "keep it real". there are lots of perfect people and perfect blogs out there. i try to make my blog a true representation of who i am.

Well, at least the puppy shampoo had a 4.9 out 5 star rating! lol

Sounds like a typical day at my house this summer. Every once in a while you just gotta let yourself go! Nothing wrong with that... (I'm writing this while wearing my baseball hat and know I really should wash my hair tomorrow-We'll see) :)

Ha! Ha! Ha! This cracked me up. I love that you are REAL. I read way to many blogs that make me feel like I'm not good enough. Thanks for being true to yourself, letting us in to see the REAL you. It's very refreshing.

I am cracking up about the words that Erica says she doesn't like. I totally see it. So funny.

It sounds like you need some pebble ice to munch on!

Life is crazy sometimes, isn't it? Too bad about the mortgage, not fun!

I am SO glad i'm not the only mother of boys who's been feeling like this lately! I've been thinking of signs that you need a break from your boys...1) it's a toss up who's more tired at the end of the day- you or your vacuum. 2) you quit getting after your boys for picking their noses unless you're in public....the list goes on and on!!!

I laughed out loud when I read the dog shampoo remedy!

Circus Peanuts? Those things scare me :)~ I love that you used the puppy shampoo... I might not have thought of it... but I think it is so creative... I have days and weeks just like yours... and I can't remember when I styled my hair last... I have convinced myself that it looks so nice in a ponytail :)~ Summer makes me want to hid inside... I am not a hot weather person... so I am melting:)Everything will be better for all of us once it turns to fall:)

I'm relieved to know your human too!

I'm not sure what you did to your tire, but I found out "Sam's Club" repairs most flats for free! (and the tire doesn't have to be purchased there...) sounds too good to be true?! I'm not sure, I've never tested it out.

funny how our weeks mirror each other! hats, shampoo, and late nights...all of it. sigh...such a comfort to know i'm not the only one! thanks for sharing. hugs.

Ouch! on the mortgage payment. Ours went up in June and goes up again in December, and we can't refinance because the house has lost value. Yikes.
Love the dog shampoo remedy. I'll keep that in mind, I've got a bottle under the bathroom sink that I was thinking of tossing, since both our poochies passed away last year. NOw, I just might keep it handy. Thanks!!

as your mom, i worry that you're not sleeping, but, as a mother, i totally understand where you're coming from...and as for your friend anony..blogging is like therapy...you need to get your feelings out of you or else sometimes you'll explode...kelly's not saying she's perfect, she's just telling her feelings...something will all should do.....

mama jo said...

maybe i should add another comment...don't mess with my baby!!

shut it anonymous

Brooke Woods said...

It's so interesting that anonymous had such strong opinions about all that you are doing wrong on your blog and yet continues to read it regularly, even sighting older posts in his/her comment. Perhaps they should get a life!

Anonymous said...

Kelly-
I think you are pretty amazing myself! Despite what some anonymous people might think-apparently if they have time to read all your blog posts, are they living in their moment or just in yours?!? Just sayin'!

Anonymous said...

I want to find out who anonymous is..I'm in a bad mood and would like to take it out on somebody.

Amanda Conley said...

Ok, I just had to comment because this is SO awesome! You could be my new best friend, we're so alike. And, you totally made me feel better about wearing my two week disposable contacts for...like...four months, maybe?

Sonya said...

LOL....hilarious!!! But I do have to say...I was trying to do the last one WITH you, but wound up getting such bad migraines from going cold turkey I have been drinking a juice glass of Dr. P when a migraine comes on, which are becoming few and far between, so slowly but surely! :)

Good Luck!!!
Much Love,
Sonya

SOUNDS like motherhood!!!! Isn't it the most fabulous feeling to know that no matter what those two little boys think you walk on water!!!!! ;O
