Before Gavin was even born, Jeff knew he wanted to shape a surf board to hang in Gavin's room. So, he went out and found the perfect "little" surf blank, so he could shape the perfect board for his new surfing buddy. But life got busy. Gavin was born, Jeff was studying to pass the bar, then he had to get a job, plus there were lots of other, "real" surf boards that he needed to make... and through it all, the foam blank for Gavin's board sat in our garage. When we got pregnant again, the idea re-surfaced. So, after two years & lots of hard work, Jeff has completed Gavin's board. I am so impressed, I wanted to play show & tell. I can't believe he can take a foam block & turn it into such an amazing piece of art. I love the colors! The pop of the green & the resin swirl is incredible. Most of all, I love that Gavin will forever have a surfboard hand crafted, just for him, by his dad. Now, Jeff just needs to do one for Owen!

That's made of foam? Wow! It's gorgeous! I just love the swirls of color. What a treasure for Gavin, and what a talented guy Jeff is!
super cool! what a lucky dude. :)
Wow - not only are you the crafting queen, but you married a talented, man-crafting husband! Seriously so cool.
I am completely impressed and now totally missing California (just moved away 9 months ago).
that turned out so awesome...that's a great talent jeff has...
Awesome! I love how much we have in common: blogging, law school, kids (boy(s)), CA, and surf boards! However, Will's boards are simply decorations in his room...
PS- And we have yet to learn to surf since we moved here! *sigh*
That turned out so great. I think Elliott misses having a reason to make boards.
Kelly, I really really love your blog and all the crafts and ideas you post. I was talking with a friend and sharing some blog stories and it was decided that when you frequent an unknown blogger, you are a 'blog stalker'...Thank you so much for all of your postings and writings. Can't wait to try out the pattern for the apron and this surf board is AWESOME!!!
What a treasure for little Gavin! I can't believe Jeff can do that. Very talented!
