i'm such a copycat.

a couple of weeks ago i had never heard of the twilight series of books. and then suddenly, everywhere i went, every blog i read, every person i knew was talking about it. seriously, vampires?! but then i found myself in the book store searching for it. hey if EVERYONE is reading it, i didn't want to miss the bandwagon.

so i've finished all three, and i have to say, i've got kind of mixed emotions. i liked the books, but i didn't LOVE them. maybe it was just too much hype? did i expect too much? but the kicker is... i definitely don't understand everyone's obseesion with edward! sure he's beautiful, rich & intelligent. but why would you want him? i'd much rather crush on jacob!

Oh Kelly. How can you not LOVE Edward? Sorry you didn't like the books that well. I'm one of those freaky obsessed people. Oh well...

Jacob definitely grew on me in Eclipse!

I posted about this just yesterday! I think Jacob is better for her than Edward. I don't want her to turn vampire.

I haven't read Eclipse but like you I don't LOVE them I really really liked the first and then the second was a disappointment in my mind, just not as good as I was hoping.

And yeah, even though Edward is 'beautiful' he's cold and his skin is sooo smooth etc... I don't know I just can't picture him being comfortable (even though Bella loves to climb on his stony lap and somehow lay on his stone cold chest!) And he can't ever go in the sun! And so if Bella becomes a Vampire they will just live forever and ever and ever and ever on this earth?

The whole Jacob thing is a little annoying to me because it was kinda 'over the top' that of all people she is the one that likes a warewolf too! I think it should have been a friend that really likes Jacob etc... it just makes it a little more 'unbelievable'.

I really want to read Eclipse! Sorry this got so long.

Hmmm.. yeah...

I've only read the first book and was surprised by how much I liked it. After reading it I was sure I'd want to read the sequel but now I wonder.

If she turned into a vampire wouldn't some of the magic be lost? So much of what makes their relationship delicious is the balance between his desire to kill her and his love for her!

I don't know much about Jacob since he wasn't featured much in Twilight, so I can't comment on that relationship.

Anyway, still trying to decide if I want to continue the journey...

please don't get the wrong idea. i really did enjoy the books. i'm probably not one who is "freaky obsessed", but i'm maybe just a little obsessed. i liked the books. i didn't want to put them down. i've told friends about them, and chatted with strangers. i guess i was disappointed because SO many people were talking about it... saying it was the greatest books EVER... i was kinda expecting the great american novel - which it totally wasn't. so it isn't really a problem with the books, just my expectations. i would definitely encourage everyone to read them. and um... yea, jacob is WAY Better. I agree with roro... edward is all cold and stony... a statue, hello?

Funny. I liked the first and couldn't put it down, but I didn't read the next 2. It was good, but not GREAT. Bella just drove me too crazy.

I haven't read any of them but I've been thinking about it because, like you said, everywhere you go people were talking about it. I've got a few books on my nightstand but once I'm out I'll probably read them. Good to know not everyone is an Edward fan :)

These comments have totally steered me away from these books. I don't get the cold, stone lap thing and him being so smooth. Did you read The Historian? That was really good and it was about vampires, too. What's up with vampires?

i have really enjoyed these books..have to read the 3rd still...i have to say...i really like edward..i like jacob also, but edward really cares for bella...she sometimes can drive you crazy..she needs to listen to others occasionally..but i think they are fun to read..

For me it has more to do with how the books relate to me personally. I think that Edward represented something different in each book. In the first he was the hot dangerous guy, Aaron for me. ;) I like the second one the best because of all the action. Here he was her protecor and their bond was made. In Eclipse it was safe (Jacob)or soul mate (Edward). For me it was Brett or Jason. I chose the soul mate, Jason. I love Sci-Fi so the vampires were a bonus. :)
