how i hope to live my life.

i don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, & with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. i want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. i want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing sister schenck's lawn. i want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. i want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. i want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks & tears of a friend on my shoulder. i want the Lord to know i was really here & that i really lived.

i love this (both times you have it posted ;))

i imagined you wrote it late in the night after tucking in the kids, until of course i saw the bottom, then i think i recalled being touched by this before. don't you wish you had written it. i do.

I love this. It reminds me of the saying (which I can't find now) but it says something about not going into heaven gently, but more crashing in from living a life full of great things and fun. Wish I could find the quote now :(

What a beautiful thought about how to live one's life. No one could have said it better. Sister Hinckley is such an inspiration!

Amen! I love that, and I remember hearing it before. Thanks for sharing. Check out the poem on the side of my blog- it shares similar feelings, I think.

This is a great post. It makes you realize what kind of lady Sister Hinckley was and what kind of person I hope to become. Thank you for sharing this and helping me to strive to be better!

This is one of my favorite quotes! And no I dont eat ice cream and avacados together...but it sounds like it by the way that I wrote it!

By the way, I was dying when I read about Gavin squatting on the grass like Gigi! That is hilarious!

Sister Hinckley is definitely one of the women of the church that I look up to the most.....and I sure miss them both! Since we were gone and busy all week I hadn't looked at your blog for a little while- i loved the pms one....so funny! And I am getting the same comments from my mom and fam right now about being preggers! I always have to announce when my special friend comes along for the month just to get them to stop buggin me about it! I guess my mom's just that excited about having lots of grandkids :)
