i heart the big apple.

i think thomas wolfe said it best: "one belongs to new york instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years." & although, i've had the wonderful opportunity of visiting gotham city on several occasions, this was a first for jeffy & the boys... & let me tell you, they took to it instantly! thanks to you & all your help, my list of places to go, and things to do & see would have taken us weeks to accomplish. & unfortunately, we only had about 2 & 1/2 days to pack it in - which is exactly what we did. saw the sights, did a little shopping & even caught a baseball game. so here are some of the highlights. (as always, click on pictures to enlarge.)

gavin loved the view from our room, we had a hard time keeping him away from the windows, but who could blame him? a completely unobstructed view of central park? breathtaking!

no trip to new york is complete without a stop at dylan's candy bar. you can't beat three entire floors of candy. everything & anything you could possibly dream of... lollipops & jelly beans, nostalgia candy, but unfortunately for me - no big bins filled with vanilla tootsie rolls (my personal favorite). and in the front window, i spied the entire collection from project runway's hershey challenge.

of course we found some time to do a little (okay maybe a lot) of shopping, explore central park, catch a musical, & eat lots and lots of new york pizza. but we also managed to pack in a yankee game.

of course we visited the brightest lights in the big city, checked out the huge ferris wheel inside toy 'r us, and ate hot dogs & roasted peanuts from the street vendors.

and as the story books go, our trip to new york ended happily ever after with a midnight serving of serendipity 3's frrrozen hot chocolate.

as you can see... we definitely played hard.

I'm so jealous now - I'd love to go to New York! Your pictures look great :) I'll just have to work on the whole fear of flying thing - I think 7 hours on a plane might be a bit much for me!

Looks like you had a wonderful time! I have only been to upstate New York. I would love to go to Manhattan or New York. My brother is moving there later this year, it will give me a reason to go now for sure.

Great trip, Kelly! Thanks for sharing all your photos, and what an awesome view of Central Park! I’d love to spend a fall holiday in NYC, their summers get just as hot as we do here in the south!

I've always wanted to go to NY, haven't had the opportunity, quite yet anyway. But, after hearing about a 3 story candy store- oh man! I'm a sucker for candy stores, I just love how they look!

Oh, and I like the vanilla tootsie rolls too! My favorite is to twist it with a chocolate one, and make a tootsie roll twist. I know, I'm a little weird! But it sure is yummy.

Truly, there is NOTHING better in the world than free time in NYC because you can do absolutely ANYTHING you want to. Want to swing from a trapeze? Done! Want to eat Tibetan food at 2 am? Sure! Want to buy bright green shoes with black stripes and 6 inch heels? No problem! Just seeing your pics made me ache for my home away from home.

Glad you guys had so much fun - thanks for letting us all visit The City vicariously through you!
