falling off the wagon.

battling personal demons is never easy. just when you think you have them under control & you've finally whipped them in the butt, there they go... popping up again. for years i've battled an addiction. this past year, i decided this was "the" year. no longer was i going to let my problem rule my life. & for a time, i was triumphant. i actually had overcome my addiction, & it felt good. unfortunately, & i'm embarrassed to admit, i've relapsed. & while it doesn't justify my actions, i do have a good excuse - pregnancy. there is just something about a tall glass of crushed ice, filled to the rim with cherry coke, that satisfies my cravings. i'm just hoping that i haven't fallen off the wagon forever. soon enough, i'm sure i'll be fighting the urges to "use", until then, i don't mind indulging myself, just a bit.

There was a time in my second trimester where I craved cokes. I didn't want the extra calories or to be drinking too much caffeine but that didn't stop me!

Go ahead and drink your cherry coke. This "craving" could very well pass quickly and you'll be on to craving something else. :)

I remember CRAVING Icee and Slurpee's and Rita's Water Ice!! Something @ cold and sweet!!!!!
Hope you are feeling well! Treat yourself to that cherry coke and ENJOY!!

I too have an addiction...to diet pepsi and diet dr.pepper.
I don't have a pregnancy to justify the craving. It's 8am, I'm not going to the gym since I have a PTA mtg and so I'm already having one. This is bad!

Would it help if you went for the caffeine free type? At least you would have the flavor!

Hey, I hope you do try the lemon chicken. It's virtually fool-proof so long as you keep the lemon inside the chicken.

Oh, NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would condem you for a pick me up while you are pregnant and until your babe sleeps through the night! I commend you for even trying! I would NEVER commit to such a thing until I was CLEARLY out of the woods of need. :) (and necessity- i.e. a full nights sleep)

Enjoy your cherry coke, your body is doing so much work right now it deserves a little treat!

Everybody needs a vice, and if Cherry Coke is yours, so be it! Enjoy and indulge!

ha ha my feeling is I'd rather die having it than die wanting it...!!

I tried to quit awhile ago and I think by quitting cold turkey it made me want it more than if I just drink it sparingly...Plus let's face it, every pregnant woman deserves something special every now and then!

We share the same addiction. Shall we start a 12 step program? Maybe 12 steps to the local grocery to get more Cherry Coke?!

Maybe a CC anonymous group.

me too. quite honestly- I give it up every year and every year, after months- I reclaim. I don't understand...

I'm also a coke addict - cola that is. Love it. I try to limit it to one a day. That's hard enough.

I have a serious cherry coke zero problem. I am currently enjoying one at ten in the morning. I am not pregnant. Whats my excuse?

OHHH I LOVE DIET CHERRY COKE!! Yummy, it's my favorite! If that's the worse addiction you have babe then your doing ok. Indulge a little then if you must get back on the wagon, but a little cherry coke probably won't kill you. It's got to be better than coffee or chocolate, right???

Just stick a penny in, watch it disolve and your cured!

I'm on the Diet Dr. Pepper addition like some of the people above. Ummm... so good. 32 oz fill up at the gas station is like 60 cents. They only feed my addiction with their cheap prices!

I too have an addiction. It's called food. Damn, why can't I kick it.

when you're pregnant, you gotta give what the baby wants! right? that was my justification for all things decadent and greasy.

Drink it! It's for the baby anyway...

I have never tried cherry coke. It sounds delicious. I am also addicted - to diet coke. It is very hard to give up. I always think, maybe next year...

I don't judge you Kelly. Not one bit. In fact I am hoping and praying the husband brings me home a ginormous Pepsi this evening. Forget dinner- all I want is the Pepsi. Drink up girl, drink up.

I think of coca cola as one of my good habits. It keeps me from worse habits, like killing people.

Hi Kelly, thanks for coming by my blog today! It is exciting starting something new, it's also kind of a drag having all of those "will I ever learn this" feelings! I think I'll get the hang of it eventually! Good luck with your cherry coke problem!

I have the same problem with chocolate chip cookies.

I gave up coke/cherry coke and all their caffinated cousins 12 days ago and after a few bad headaches, it's been OK. You aren't the only one. You can do it!

I did not touch any caffeine my first pregnancy. I made up for it afterwards, but this one I crave it all the time. I indulge myself every couple of weeks and get a big Del Taco Cherry Coke. I am so glad to know I am not alone.

I have fallen off the wagon too.
1 year 9 months...no cola.
None.
Nada.
And then one fine day, it called to me.
And I partook.
I am a drinker again.
And I have no excuse...ugh!

No worries...enjoy your drink!
