not as cute as i imagined.

so, recently I had a cute idea...bake cupcakes in colorful ice cream cones & top them a "swirl" of frosting.Sounds darling, huh? Well i whipped up the batter, poured it into the cones (making sure to leave AMPLE space for the cupcakes to rise). I checked on them with about 5 minutes left & they were looking perfect. The buzzer goes off, & well... they had spilled over, some had sunk in, they were a total disaster! I guess I'll have to go back to the drawing board on this one. I guess they can't all be successes.

I have had the same thing happen to me! I just crumbled the cones up and scooped on ice cream, sprinkles and chocolate syrup. The kids didn't even know the difference!

I've had success with those - but you really can't put very much batter in them. Those cones look bigger than they actually are. I only put about a quarter of a cup of batter in the bottom - sometimes a teensy bit more. They are very cute. Try again - you are the baking queen. I think I may make some today myself...thanks for the idea!

it's the perfect replication of a melting cone at least!

Are you sure a certain little chef boy didn't open the oven to check them? As long as you have him, I'd blame Gavin.

That is a great idea! I say you keep at it! Oh, and as for a suggestion as to how to make millions (especially in this state): a civil suit. Let me know how it goes. ;)

I loved those when I was little. :)

If you served them, I doubt the kids cared. They actually have style to them. Call them, alien cupcakes! Love your blog.

Ditto to the "not much batter" You really have to leave A LOT of room, more than you would think. I made these one year for ds the kids loved them.
